Ten bestselling authors inspired by New York City's iconic Grand Central Terminal have created their own stories, set on the same day, just after the end of World War II, in a time of hope, uncertainty, change, and renewal….

A war bride awaits the arrival of her GI husband at the platform…A Holocaust survivor works at the Oyster Bar, where a customer reminds him of his late mother…A Hollywood hopeful anticipates her first screen test and a chance at stardom in the Kissing Room…

On any particular day, thousands upon thousands of people pass through Grand Central, through the whispering gallery, beneath the ceiling of stars, and past the information booth and its beckoning four-faced clock, to whatever destination is calling them. It is a place where people come to say hello and good-bye. And each person has a story to tell.
Featuring stories from Melanie Benjamin, Jenna Blum, Amanda Hodgkinson, Pam Jenoff, Sarah Jio, Sarah McCoy, Kristina McMorris, Alyson Richman, Erika Robuck, and Karen White

With an Introduction by #1 New York Times bestselling author Kristin Hannah

Grand Central Station was and still is a crossroads for many destinations. The 10 stories in this anthology were written by best-selling authors who are well represented in public library collections. Each story begins in Grand Central Station during one busy post-WWII day. The concept works well and is interpreted broadly and at a variety of lengths by the different authors. Alyson Richman's Going Home tells the story of a Jewish immigrant, a musician who earns his living playing the violin at the entrance to the grand lobby and longs for a beautiful young woman he often sees. Jenna Blum's The Lucky One tells the story of Peter, a Holocaust survivor, whose escape from Europe leaves him open to the charity of his very wealthy American uncle. In The Harvest Season, by Karen White, a soldier's return from the war forces him to face a few home truths about the home front. This anthology has great popular appeal and will be sought out by chick-lit, historical-fiction, and romance readers. Libraries should purchase accordingly.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2014, American Library Association.)
