The inimitable Baby brings a humorous spin to the holidays in an e-book perfect for Easter time.
The Easter Bunny is coming! It's time to dye eggs. Did you know that red and blue make purple? That blue and yellow make green? That an art project may result in a multicolored Baby? There are bunny ears to wear (for the dog and cat, too) and an Easter basket to put out before bedtime. What will Baby find inside it the next morning?

PreS-This is a charming anticipatory story of Easter through the eyes of a toddler. Patricelli's oval-headed little tyke walks readers through the adventures of dying eggs, craft time, and an Easter egg hunt. In the end, his greatest surprise is finding out what Easter really means. Preschoolers will relate to the messy portrayal of the art project. They will also find it humorous when the toddler can't find the many eggs during his hunt, even though they are quite obvious. During storytime, teachers or librarians could ask children to count the eggs available during the hunt and compare that to the number the toddler actually finds. The bald-headed baby, sleeping in bunny ears, cottony tail affixed to his diaper, contrasts with a shadow of the "real" Easter bunny busy leaving goodies by the door. This is illustrative magic. This very short board book includes 13 exclamation points; they are all warranted. VERDICT Preschoolers, parents, teachers, and librarians will be excited to "hop" to Patricelli's latest.-Gwen Collier, Buffalo and Erie County Public Library, NY

An excited little one celebrates Easter. The Easter Bunny is on its way, and Patricelli's one-haired tot is thrilled. He prepares for the holiday by painting eggs and making bunny ears. On the big day, he excitedly looks for Easter eggs while his parents watch. The bold, rounded illustrations catch the eye, with a wide range of colors used throughout. The author pays a little lip service toward education by showing primary colors combining to create secondary colors, but the book's main focus is the exuberance that comes with celebrating the holiday, particularly when the traditions are so new and exciting. The enthusiasm is infectious, and read-alouds will most likely lead to little ones' looking to do some arts and crafts of their very own. As bright and bold as the holiday it celebrates.
