Rose McMurray reluctantly leaves the comfort of Whispering Mountain for Fort Worth to be in an old friend's wedding. Rose soon realizes that something is wrong. She's sure that Tori doesn't want to get married, and she's going to figure out why. Danger lurks, but Texas Ranger and lawyer Duncan McMurray, Rose's cousin by marriage, is there to watch out for her. As the increasingly complex plot unfolds, it's not just Rose's life that Duncan worries about but also his growing romantic feelings for her. Several secondary romantic relationships add depth to this engaging story that showcases the hard realities of life in the Old West while tempering them with tenderness and understanding. VERDICT No one does Texas like Thomas, and this latest addition to one of her best-loved series is another gorgeous example. Thomas (Just Down the Road) lives in Texas.
